September 30, 2026 – March 27, 2027Tula Yoga Studio is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS®), offering a 200-hour teacher training for those who want to understand yoga more deeply, whether your goal is to become a yoga teacher, deepen your own practice, or bring the tools of yoga into the work you already do.
Our training is rooted in the Hatha/Vinyasa tradition, while taking a somewhat different approach from many traditional 200-hour programs. Along with asana, sequencing, anatomy, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, and teaching methodology, we place particular emphasis on somatics, accessible yoga, nervous system regulation, trauma-informed teaching, mindfulness, and therapeutic approaches to practice.
At Tula, we believe yoga is more than learning how to perform or teach physical postures. We explore yoga as a practice of awareness—one that helps us better understand the relationship between body, breath, mind, nervous system, and everyday life.
The training is led by Maile Wicklander, C-IAYT® Certified Yoga Therapist and E-RYT® 500, alongside Rhiannon Kirby, E-RYT® 500, who brings more than two decades of yoga practice and teaching experience. Additional members of the Tula teaching team join us throughout the program to share their areas of expertise.
What you'll explore
• Anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and injury prevention
• Hatha and Vinyasa asana and sequencing
• Pranayama and breath awareness
• Meditation and mindfulness
• Yoga philosophy, including the Eight Limbs, Yamas & Niyamas, Yoga Sutras, and Bhagavad Gita
• Somatic movement and nervous system regulation
• Accessible yoga, props, adaptations, and inclusive teaching
• Trauma-informed teaching and student agency
• Teaching skills, cueing, class design, and finding your own voice
• Yoga beyond the postures—how the teachings can inform how we live, relate, and serve
• The practical and ethical realities of teaching yoga
This training isn't only for future yoga teachers.
Some students enter a 200-hour program knowing they want to teach yoga professionally. Others want a deeper personal immersion in yoga, or hope to thoughtfully incorporate yoga and mindfulness practices into work they are already doing.
The training may be especially meaningful for social workers, therapists, counselors, educators, healthcare and wellness professionals, community workers, caregivers, and others whose work involves supporting people.
You do not need to leave your current profession and become a full-time yoga teacher for this training to have value. The tools of yoga - movement, breath, mindfulness, self-awareness, nervous system regulation, philosophy, and embodied presence - can complement many forms of service and helping work while remaining respectful of professional scope.
Most importantly, this training is for people who are curious about yoga as something deeper than exercise.
If you're interested in accessible, embodied, thoughtful yoga that meets people where they are, we'd love to have you explore the program.
