Try a Trade Taster Sessions – Construction Trades (Ages 15–18)
West Notts College’s Try a Trade taster sessions are hands-on workshops for 15–18 year olds interested in exploring careers in construction. These sessions are ideal for school leavers who want to try different trades before choosing a pathway. No previous experience is required.
Each session gives a practical introduction to a specific trade, allowing you to try real skills in a workshop setting.
Important booking information:
Please book only one ticket per date and per trade area (Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery, or Plastering). You will only be able to take part in one taster per session date. If you would like to try other trades, you can book additional dates.
Bricklaying Taster Session
An introduction to basic bricklaying skills.
- Learn essential tools and materials
- Practice laying bricks and applying mortar
- Explore progression routes and careers in bricklaying
Carpentry and Joinery Taster Session
A practical introduction to carpentry and joinery.
- Learn basic tools and techniques
- Gain hands-on workshop experience
- Explore training and career opportunities
Plastering Taster Session
An introduction to plastering techniques.
- Learn the basics of preparing and applying plaster
- Practice core practical skills
- Explore progression into plastering careers
Health and safety
Please wear suitable clothing for workshop activities. Safety boots are required if possible.
