Bring your dog and get creative together at Mansfield Museum!Join us for a relaxed and fun evening of watercolour painting, with a four-legged twist.
You’ll start with a printed line drawing based on one of Albert Buxton’s historic paintings of Mansfield from the late 1800s. These paintings give us a glimpse of what Mansfield looked like in the past, from its streets and buildings to familiar local places.
Using watercolours, you’ll bring the historic scene to life — but there’s a twist. You’ll also add your own dog to the picture!
Maybe they’ll be exploring an old Mansfield street, sitting outside a historic building or simply enjoying the scene alongside you. You can make your artwork as realistic, colourful or completely bonkers as you like.
The best bit? You and your dog are creating it together.
No artistic experience is needed and there’s no pressure to produce a masterpiece. It’s simply a chance to spend some time together, try something creative and connect with Mansfield’s history in a different way.
Your finished artwork is yours to take home, giving you a unique keepsake of you, your dog and Mansfield.

Bringing your dog
We want everyone — two-legged and four-legged — to have a comfortable and enjoyable evening, so there are a few things to keep in mind:
Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times while in the museum.
Please only bring well-behaved dogs who are comfortable being around other people and dogs.
You may want to bring a blanket or mat for your dog to settle on while you paint.
Water will be provided for the dogs.
Please keep an eye on your dog throughout the session and make sure they are not disturbing other participants or their dogs.
Any accidents or mess must be cleaned up immediately. Please bring your own poo bags just in case!
Please be mindful that some people may be nervous around dogs, so give other visitors plenty of space.
If your dog becomes unsettled, distressed or disruptive during the session, we may ask you to take a break outside or, if necessary, leave the event.
We want this to be a relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone, so please use your judgement about whether your dog will enjoy spending an evening at the museum with other dogs and people.
