What do you do when you fall in love with your best friend’s wife?
But what if she is also one of your greatest sources of inspiration?
The story of the Schumanns is a novel in itself: Robert, a pianist who falls in love with the daughter of his piano teacher. Her father opposes the relationship, and they even end up in court, but Robert and Clara eventually marry. She becomes one of the great pianists of her era. He eventually throws himself into the Rhine, but is rescued and admitted to a psychiatric clinic. It is during this period that Brahms, Robert’s friend, enters the story and grows close to Clara and the Schumann family.
