($15-$25 + DICE fees | 4:30pm Show | 16+) Tucson vocalist, bandleader, and producer Felíz Torralba brings an intimate evening of boleros, tangos, and Latin American song to the Century Room with El Último Café.
Known for performances that pair the intimacy of a jazz vocalist with a strong sense of storytelling and theatricality, Torralba has become a regular presence on the Century Room stage, creating distinctive programs built around the music she loves. With El Último Café, she turns toward the romantic Latin repertoire that has long been part of her musical life, assembling a trio specifically suited to its warmth, drama, and intimacy.
Featuring beloved songs like “Sabor a Mí,” “Bésame Mucho,” “Amor Eterno,” and the haunting Argentine tango “El Último Café,” the evening moves through romance, longing, heartbreak, and nostalgia, drawing from a repertoire of songs that have endured across generations and borders.
For the first time at the Century Room, Torralba is joined in this trio by Argentine guitarist Maximillian “Maxi” Larrea and bassist Thøger Tetens Lund. A native of Rosario, Argentina, Larrea is an accomplished tango and folk guitarist, arranger, composer, and educator who has toured internationally for more than fifteen years, bringing a deep connection to the musical traditions at the heart of the program.
Lund, one of Tucson’s most distinguished bassists, spent nearly two decades touring internationally with Giant Sand and has performed with artists including John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, KT Tunstall, Mark Lanegan, Madeleine Peyroux, and flamenco great Raimundo Amador.
At the center of the trio is Torralba’s rich, expressive vocal style and instinct for making a song feel personal. Together, Torralba, Larrea, and Lund bring the music down to its most intimate elements: voice, guitar, and bass. Moving between the tenderness of the bolero and the drama of the tango, El Último Café is an evening built around three musicians, beautiful songs, and the kind of stories that somehow still hurt no matter how many generations have sung them.
