About this Event
Tree Talk is an outdoor meditation practice sparked by my pilgrimage to the ancient Sequoias. The core of this practice, however, stems from a lifetime of looking up at the crowns and down at the roots, posing all my questions to the trees, and learning how to listen for their wise and endless answers.
The sequoias have learned to live with the fire. They shed their branches to stave off the flames, and only release their seeds unto the fertile aftermath of a cleared forest floor. We often come to the forest when we’ve been burned, to plant new growth.
There are no sequoias in Brooklyn but there are powerful friends, allies and guardians here, with their own wisdom to share with you. We’ll gather in Prospect Park to be led through this hybrid movement, writing, and meditation practice designed to open a dialogue with the trees around us.
You'll take home a framework for establishing relationships with the trees in your own neighborhood, forging connections that will live on long beyond the container of our gathering.
