TREASURE ISLANDBy Robert Louis Stevenson
This family-friendly version has been adapted for the stage by Toby Hulse.
Like Jim Hawkins, the young hero of Treasure Island, Emily is a bored schoolgirl who dreams of becoming a pirate, despite the fact that there are plenty of other careers out there that are far more suitable – and considerably safer!
But Emily is fierce, fearless and determined, and we join her as she takes on Jim’s role and makes it entirely her own.
Our adventure begins at an inn full of pirates, where we encounter an old sea captain, a blind beggar, a good old-fashioned fight and a mysterious treasure map with an X marking the spot.
Then it’s aboard a groaning wooden ship, as Emily and her ragtag crew set sail on a dangerous voyage to the other side of the world, bound for a remote, uninhabited island rumoured to be overflowing with treasure.
Expect a swashbuckling adventure packed with twists and turns, dastardly betrayals, unexpected surprises, barrel-loads of laughs and plenty of music. And keep your eyes peeled for the parrot!
