About this Event
The Transport Planning Society’s 2026 Transport Planning Day, themed Transport Planning for Thriving People and Places, will explore how transport planning can improve everyday life by creating healthier, more inclusive and better-connected communities. The TPS North East region would like to invite all across the sector to a lunchtime seminar to bring together practitioners and sector leaders to consider how integrated transport and land-use planning can widen access to jobs, education, services and leisure, while supporting economic growth, decarbonisation and improved wellbeing.
It will also celebrate the importance of equitable access, early and meaningful community engagement, and ensuring that transport investment responds to the needs of diverse communities without leaving anyone behind.
Taking place at the Core Newcastle on Tuesday 10th November from 11.30-13.30, the session will allow the opportunity to debate this with the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority’s Director of Transport, Tobyn Hughes, Newcastle University Professor of Intelligent Transport Systems, Phil Blythe and Richie Fraser from AECOM. There will be a chance for a Panel discussion led by Nicola Hill (Arup / TPS Regional Co lead) and networking with a working lunch provided.
With thanks to our sponsors AECOM and our hosts the North East MSA
