Trans Writes is a creative writing group for anyone who identifies as trans or non-binary. We welcome writers of all levels.
About this Event

Please note: this event will be held in person at Glasgow Zine Library. This event is for 18+ trans and non-binary people only.

Part of our Community Led Programme: events run by and for members of our community.

Trans Writes is a creative writing group for anyone who identifies as trans or non-binary (18+). We welcome writers of all levels, including those who want to try writing for the first time. Together we'll explore trans identity and creative expression; this is a space for you to experiment, whether you’re writing something serious, something playful, or something in-between.
Each session begins with a short reading or hands-on creative activity - no preparation required. We might look at short extracts from trans writers, explore zines from the library, or try DIY writing exercises. Time is also set aside for free writing and optional sharing.
Join us to experiment and write, connect with other trans writers, discover new creative techniques, and leave each session with fresh ideas and inspiration. All you need to bring is whatever you prefer to write with: pen and paper, a laptop, or another device. Extra pens and paper will be provided.

Content warning: Writing about identity and lived experience can touch on topics such dysphoria, discrimination, or mental health. You are encouraged to share only what feels comfortable, and you can listen without sharing, or step out if you need to.
