Touchy Feely brings together drinking vessels by master ceramicists from Japan and beyond.
A quiet, tactile encounter with remarkable studio pottery in London's Bloomsbury. Showcasing one-of-a-kind cups and teabowls, there are more than 30 breathtaking expressions of how ceramic artistry can transform your everyday beverage moments.
Each piece is the result of magical chance formed by ingenuity, material, time and fire. They are made this way, only once.
From bold and rustic Iga ware, boundary pushing Kohiki verging on the spiritual, to intricacies of Nerikomi, this exhibition shows how Japanese ceramicsts turn clay, glaze and fire into distinct landscapes at the table.
Get up close and personal with each piece's texture, weight, handfeel and shape. Consider how a piece can become your treasure for appreciation and contemplation at home.

Join an exclusive, quiet tactile workshop with refreshments
- Session 1: 10am – 11:30am
- Session 2: 2:30pm – 4pm
- Doors open 5 minutes before and late comers cannot be let in.
During this intimate small group session of 7 people only:
- Enjoy coffee, hot beverages and snacks using ceramic pieces made by master craftspeople.
- Use a toolkit to explore the story, make, and tactility of a displayed vessel of your choice. It will be a quiet experience where you can take time with pieces you want to know well.
- Share your exploration with the group.
- Take home memories of the connection you've made with this vessel.
Refreshments
- Freshly ground beans from Algerian Coffee Roaster: hand brewed, freshly ground and served in immersion/pour over style by susurri host Mia Chuang
- Japanese snacks: made by a local Japanese business or originate from Japan, and can include savoury and sweet flavours. Cakes, rice crackers, jellies, chocolate confections, biscuits or wagashi may be avaliable.
- You have the option to not take coffee or the snack on offer, and instead bring your own. A kettle will be available to use. Please see the FAQ section to get Promo Codes for removing these options from your ticket.
