About this Event

Explore, create, and connect in nature's boundless playground. Our curated day events are designed to immerse you in the beauty of nature while igniting your creative spark.

The South East London Green Chain is made up of over 300 open spaces and woodland that form a great arc of undeveloped land between the River Thames and Crystal Palace Park. We will be exploring Section 11 which takes us from Nunhead to Crystal Palace. We will use our 5 senses to uncover what can be found in urban nature, allowing us to see how we can find moments of escape and nurture on our doorstep.

When we arrive at Sydenham and Dulwich Woods we will slow down and take in the signs of the Autumn to Winter change by taking in the flora, fauna and wildlife that we encounter. Bring something to sit on as we take time out to ground and sit in nature for a short while.

This walk will be led by Natalie, who is outdoor first aid trained.

About Touch Grass

Touch Grass is an outdoor community for queer women, trans and non-binary people of colour.

We are committed to fostering community growth through outdoor gatherings and wellness-focused trips that encourage us to rekindle our relationship with nature. Our immersive experiences go beyond relaxation — they're about empowerment, healing, and forging meaningful connections.

Our vision is for queer people of colour to see the outdoors as a space where we belong. A 2020 report by Friends of the Earth found that nearly 40% of people from minority ethnic backgrounds in England live in the most green space-deprived neighbourhoods, compared with only 14% of white people — and that people from minority ethnic backgrounds are significantly less likely to spend time in the countryside than white people. We want to change this. We deserve joyful, safe access to the emotional well-being and physical health benefits of nature too.

We believe creativity and nature go hand in hand, which is why most of our events encourage you to embrace nature and your inner creative spirit.
