This edition of the Toronto Carbon Club is co-hosted by Brightspot Climate and ClearBlue Markets. Join us for a panel discussion exploring what it takes to bring low-carbon fuels to market - from project development and fuel supply to carbon intensity quantification, verification, and credit creation.
Panel discussions will take place from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Alongside this discussion, the event will provide an open networking opportunity for professionals working in carbon, climate, and clean tech to reflect, share ideas, and connect. Light refreshments will be served.
Meet the panelists:
Michael Berends - CEO & Co-founder, ClearBlue Markets.
Michael has spent decades in carbon markets across North America and Europe, developing trading, pricing, and risk management strategies for organizations in compliance and voluntary markets worldwide. He leads ClearBlue Markets and its Vantage carbon intelligence platform.
Lorena Ellsworth - Principal, Brightspot Climate.
Lorena is a Professional Engineer with fifteen years of upstream oil and gas experience and deep expertise in greenhouse gas quantification, reporting, and verification. She leads Brightspot’s GHG verification business and complex projects across regulatory programs, helping organizations achieve credible reporting and navigate compliance requirements.
Douglas Dias - Executive Vice President & Co-Managing Director, Renewable Energy - Commerical, Greenfield Global.
Doug oversees Greenfield Global’s renewable energy commercial strategy, including ethanol supply and trading, partnerships, and business development. He also works with industry stakeholders on policies and markets supporting renewable fuels and other low-carbon products.

Fiona D'Silva - Consultant, Brightspot Climate.
Fiona is a Professional Engineer who leads verifications and provides consulting services under Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations and advises clients on carbon intensity assessments under the BC Low Carbon Fuel Standard using GHGenius. Since joining Brightspot in 2020, Fiona has led GHG verifications across industrial, renewable energy, and corporate sectors under provincial and federal programs.
