About this Event
Tombolo is a pop-up children's art gallery for the young and young at heart.
We offer a platform for children to see their art on a big stage and to know that their perspective and voices matter. At the same time, the gallery is a whimsical escape for children and their grown-ups; reminding people of all ages to tap into playfulness and curiosity.
This September, with the support of our title sponsor the event will transform a space in East Vancouver’s iconic into an interactive “Make-Believe Mall”.
Think nostalgic classics like: A “2D food court” (featuring some familiar Lower Mainland restaurants as easter eggs) and photobooth, a "candy store" craft station, a toy store with real games, and even a pet store where guests will get to "Adopt a Pet" and draw their own imaginary creatures on the walls.
All of this, of course, surrounded by the main focus of the event: over 250+ pieces of children’s artwork, starring the pretend stores of their wildest imaginations. Everything from monster pets to kite shops, rainbow stores to bug spas—there are no limits in this Make-Believe Mall! With the new location this year, the team is excited to provide an even bigger platform and greater visibility for these deserving young artists.
Note: To manage capacity, we recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time; however, if you have any last minute additions, we do leave room for walk-ins.
Note #2: We have allotted about 2 hours for the experience, but you are more than welcome to linger a little longer, or fly through the exhibits- up to you!
