About this Event
After his sold-out performance of Dan Seavey: Confessions of a Great Lakes Pirate at The White Lilac in May, Tom Kastle returns with The Gales of November—an evening of maritime music from the Great Lakes and the seas beyond.
For years, Tom traveled the world collecting and performing maritime songs and stories while sailing tall ships on the Great Lakes. His music comes with the experience of someone who has stood at the helm: his captain and relief captain credits include the tall ship Windy at Chicago’s Navy Pier, Friends Good Will at the Michigan Maritime Museum, and Milwaukee’s schooner Denis Sullivan.
His storytelling has also taken him well beyond the waterfront. Tom’s theater work ranges from Man of La Mancha and Shakespeare to God Help Us! with the legendary Ed Asner. His film projects include Francisco Torres’ Delight in the Mountain, and he hosted an Emmy-nominated documentary about the Bicentennial Battle of Lake Erie. He is currently touring his one-man play, Dan Seavey: Confessions of a Great Lakes Pirate.
This November, join us for a chance to hear Tom’s resonant voice and maritime repertoire up close, in a room that listens.
“What do you say about a guy who can command a tall ship and all her crew, whose songs can make an Irishman cry tears of pure Tullamore Dew?”
— Bryan Bowers
“With his solo recording and original songs, Tom Kastle shows further dimensions to his talent and range of material.”
— Lilli Kuzma, Folk Festival, WDCB-FM
