Hosted at the Sunrise Center, Lori Grace will present a shocking film about the state of our elections and election software.
“K*ll Chain: The Cyber War on America's Elections” (2020), directed by Simon Ardizzone, Russell Michaels, and Sarah Teale; an HBO Documentary Films production, takes a deep dive into the weaknesses of today’s election technology, investigating the startling vulnerabilities in America’s voting systems and the alarming risks they pose to our democracy. The team behind HBO’s 2006 Emmy®-nominated documentary “Hacking Democracy,” the recent film "K*ll Chain" follows Finnish hacker and cyber security expert Harri Hursti as he travels around the world and across the U.S. to show how our election systems remain dangerously unprotected.
Lori will share what has learned about the current state of how our elections are being handled, and who is interfering with our votes. Working together with 5 other nonprofit organizations who are also studying the situation, providing public oversight on a wider scale.
Of course the film "K*ll Chain: The Cyber War on America's Elections” (2020), is just a movie, but facing the reality of this issue is not. Lori will present, accompanied by Cheryl Fonseca, founder of providing resources and awareness that help reduce the risk of election fraud anywhere in the country. Cheryl will step in, guiding those in need of emotional support or in need of inspiration, comfort, or reassurance.

For those of you who are Zooming and who have previously seen the movie, the discussion will begin after a 15-minute break. That means the discussion will begin approximately 2 hours after the start of the program.

Cheryl is the California head of SmartElections.us, leading a nonpartisan mission and exciting educational program that improves election security, and voter accessibility. She describes herself as a retired IT professional, offering background knowledge on her years of experience with computer systems, turning her skillset into passionate activism.
Lori Grace has been involved with the issues of election integrity since 2003 when she began working with Bev Harris of Black Box Voting. Later she co-created the Institute for American Democracy and Election Integrity. She is now working with a number of nonprofits working together to try to make the upcoming midterm election worthy of trust. She will talk more about these connections in person at Sunrise Center.
