Program:Hindemith Der Schwanendreher
Brahms Serenade No.2
Sonorous sounds
The sonorous sounds of the viola anchor both works in this program featuring MSO musician Fiona Sargeant. Hindemith’s concerto—based on German folk song— portrays a travelling medieval musician.
Brahms’ Second Serenade—having no violins in the orchestration—brings out the rich sounds of the lower voices of the orchestra in an intimate setting.
Duration: approx. 1 hour, no interval
Featuring:
Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
Leonard Weiss*, conductor
Fiona Sargeant, viola
*2025 Cybec Assistant Conductor
