About this Event
The UNION of Rock and Ocean [TURAO] is a contemplative art system designed by tour host Kamau Zuberi Akabueze :: built from twenty universal archetypes that each hold their own relationship with Rock and Ocean.
On this walk, you will receive an Insight Card —> an archetype to study that you will embody during the tour.
Each archetype in the ongoing story of The UNION of Rock and Ocean carries a principle behavior, a scientific grounding, and a cosmological role :: designed for consideration through the tour and in the location you will be standing.
You will be joined by Rock. Ocean. Gravity. Sun. Moon. Harmony. Chaos. Existence. Potential. And eleven more.
You do not need to have heard of TURAO before. You only need to be willing to move slowly and pay attention to what the water is sharing with the gorgeous Jersey City shore, while looking out on the Manhattan Skyline.
The Format
- 15-minute pre-walk orientation at the meeting point (Paulus Hook Ferry Landing, under the Colgate Clock)
- 60-minute guided walk with Insight Card stops along the Jersey City waterfront
- 15-minute closing reflection circle at the Lone Happy Tree, Morris Canal Park
- Closing gathering at maman, 70 Hudson Street (coffee and pastry, self-pay)
Total time: 90 minutes of walking, orientation, and reflection, plus the closing gathering at maman = approximately 2 hours
