An immersive opera experience
As you enter the space, you’ll stumble upon Ben and Lucy’s hilarious love story. Ben has an important question to ask, but can he compete with the unrelenting demands of Lucy’s phone?
Following a sell-out pilot production at Fleet Studios in the City of London, Opera UnTouched’s The Telephone returns bigger and better. Set and performed in an actual office, this production brings Menotti’s comedy into the modern working day, with the action unfolding around you.
Sung in English and lasting just 40 minutes, the performance fits perfectly into an evening out, with plenty of time for dinner or a drink afterwards. Whether you’re an opera regular or coming for the first time, join us for an evening of live music, comedy and a few surprises.
About Opera UnTouched
Founded by soprano and producer Grace Watkins, Opera UnTouched brings opera into the places where its stories are set. By performing in familiar, everyday spaces, we aim to make opera more accessible and relatable to modern audiences.
With support from Arts Council England, we’re bringing The Telephone to four office spaces in London communities. Alongside the performances, our DIY Opera education project is working with local schools in those communities, helping pupils create their own short operas — developing their stories and composing the music to bring them to life.
Meet the cast and creative team
Grace Watkins — Lucy, soprano
Grace is the founder of Opera UnTouched. Her work brings together opera performance, producing and music education, creating opportunities for audiences and schoolchildren to experience and make opera.
Stephen Whitford — Ben
Stephen’s experience includes the Opera Prelude and Britten Pears Young Artist programmes.
Valeria Perboni — Director
Valeria’s credits include Opera Holland Park, Opera Prelude and HGO.
Adrian Salinero — Musical Director
Adrian’s experience includes the National Opera Studio, Grange Park Opera and Opera Holland Park.
