Free English/Turkish drawing and textiles workshop for Haringey residents. BPS particularly welcomed! Free café token included.
About this Event

About This Event Join us at Lordship Hub for a hands-on, multi-sensory art experience.

Please note: This booking page is for the Adults Workshop. There is a separate Eventbrite page to book the Family/Intergenerational workshop.

Who Can Attend: Tickets are free but reserved exclusively for residents and workers in the London Borough of Haringey.

What to Expect on the Day: The workshop is divided into three segments:

  • Haptic Drawing (1 Hour): We will guide you through tactile, body-focused drawing exercises that emphasise physical creation and bodily awareness over visual output.
  • The Tactile Tea Break: Enjoy a relaxed social break to connect with the community. Every attendee receives a pre-paid token for a complimentary tea or coffee from the Lordship Hub café.
  • Textile Creation (1 Hour): Get hands-on with sustainable textile techniques, using upcycled textured textiles. You will leave with your haptic drawing and a bespoke textile "mug rug" (coaster) or small art piece.

Accessibility & Inclusion

  • Physical Access: Lordship Hub is an accessible, ground-floor venue.
  • Sensory Access: Because the activities centre on experiential art without sight, this workshop is highly relevant and welcoming for those who are Blind or Partially Sighted (BPS).
  • Carers and PAs: Personal Assistants and carers are very welcome.
  • Language: Workshop in English and Turkish.
  • Meet & Greet Service: If you are Blind or Partially Sighted and arriving by taxi, dial-a-ride, or public transport, we offer a meet-and-greet service to guide you from your drop-off point into the venue. You can request this when booking your ticket, and we will contact you directly to arrange the details.

The Artists. The workshop is led by an intergenerational artist duo currently exhibiting at Lordship Hub:

  • Rachel: Rachel's artistic practice explores sensory experience, including her 'The Gaze Interrupted' project, inspired by thyroid eye disease.
  • Maya: Maya is a London-based Turkish artist whose recent work challenges the myth of the duality between the human body and nature.

Cancellations & Waiting List: To maintain good facilitator ratios, we limit tickets to 10 participants per session. If the event is full, you can join the waiting list. To make the most of our time and space, please cancel your ticket or let us know as soon as possible if you can no longer attend so we can offer your space to the next person on the list.

Photography: We'll take photos during the workshop for project documentation and future funding reports. You will have the option to opt out of being photographed during sign-up.

This project is funded by Haringey Unearthed, the grants programme of Haringey's London Borough of Culture 2027. London Borough of Culture is a Mayor of London initiative.
