Description: Have you ever felt happy and sad at the same time? We often think of emotions as either positive or negative. But some of life's most memorable moments make us feel more than one thing at once. In this talk, consumer psychologist Felix Septianto explores the science of mixed emotions. Drawing on his research, he will reveal how feeling both positive and negative at the same time can change the way we think, learn and make decisions, and how this can shape everything from the advertisements that persuade us and the brands we choose to our willingness to help others.
Your Speaker:
Felix Septianto is an Associate Professor of Marketing at The University of Queensland, studying how emotions influence consumer behaviour. He has published 100+ journal articles and received the Paul Bourke Award from the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia. His research has attracted AU$1.4M+ in external funding, including an Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award.
