The Slow Shibari Experience by Dan Carabas
Held in rope. Free in mind.

Slow Shibari is a private rope experience developed by Dan Carabas at Shibari Studio Berlin. It is designed for people who want to slow down, leave constant thinking behind for a moment and experience rope through presence, sensation and connection. There are no complicated patterns to complete and no particular state you are expected to reach. Through slow movement, touch, pressure, breath and stillness, attention shifts from the outside world back into the body.

A deep reset in ropeBefore the session begins, we take time to understand what you are curious to experience. Maybe you are looking for stillness, surrender, connection, pressure and release, sensuality or simply the feeling of being held. This is an intention, not a goal. Your breathing, movements and responses continuously shape the session. There is time to pause, change direction or simply stay with one sensation for longer.Shibari Studio Berlin is a quiet, Japanese-inspired studio with original tatami mats, candlelight and a carefully composed soundscape. The atmosphere is part of the experience: the texture of the tatami, the sound of rope and the privacy of the room help create a clear transition away from everyday life. For the length of your session, the studio is yours alone. No group, no audience.Slow Shibari is the moment when the body is held, the mind becomes quiet and the pressure to do disappears.

“My art is temporary. I use rope to create feelings in a human body. Like waves in the ocean, they rise and fade. The process is the point. No final goal, nothing to achieve, being rather than doing.” – Dan Carabas

Your experience, not a performanceEvery session begins with our session mind map, a short, guided consent talk where we map what you are curious to feel and where your boundaries lie. Maybe stillness. Pressure and release. Surrender. Sensuality. Or something you cannot yet put into words. From there, the session is created with you, not done to you, your breath, movement and responses shape what happens next, and there is always time to pause or change direction. We close with quiet time to land before you step back into the city.

Slow Shibari was developed by Dan Carabas at Shibari Studio Berlin, growing out of Tantric Shibari and the idea of Aibunawa (愛撫縄) — tender, caressing rope. Tender does not mean soft: rope can hold restriction, vulnerability and real intensity without pain or spectacle.

How It Feels — In Their Words
“I didn’t expect the strongest part to be what happened in my mind. At some point I stopped anticipating what would happen next, stopped thinking about how I looked or whether I was doing anything ‘right’. I could just feel. The pressure of the rope, my breathing, the pauses, the feeling of being held without having to make a single decision.
It wasn’t like switching off. I actually felt more awake and more inside my body than I usually do. Everything outside the room became irrelevant for a while. There was a strange combination of vulnerability and safety, intensity and calm, and eventually this very deep feeling of letting go.
I came in curious about Shibari. I left feeling as if someone had pressed reset on a part of me that had been running continuously for months.”

How It Feels — In Their Words
“I hadn’t realised how disconnected I’d become from my own body until the session slowed everything down. At first I was still in my head, noticing every thought, every small tension. Then gradually my attention dropped lower — into my breathing, the pressure of the rope, the weight of my body on the tatami.
At some point I stopped observing myself from the outside and just felt present inside my own skin again. Grounded, heavy, calm. Not numb, not gone — actually more here than I had felt in a long time.
What stayed with me afterwards was that feeling of having come back into myself.”
