About this Event
Bronx-born guitarist, bandleader and composer Sergio Ramirez, whose stages include David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, SFJAZZ, and the Perelman Performing Arts Center, brings his quartet to Chelsea Table + Stage for the show before he records his debut EP. Featured on Arturo O'Farrill's GRAMMY-nominated Mundoagua: Celebrating Carla Bley, Sergio leads a band that moves from intimate and lyrical to explosive. Expect new music, tunes from past gigs, and works by underrepresented composers in the jazz canon.
For a first-generation Mexican-American artist living in this moment, the music is a statement of belonging, and a refusal to be just one thing.
