About this Event
Discover the mysteries and hidden virtues of one of the most enigmatic planets in the occult tradition through astrology, Qabalah, folklore and magical practice.
Saturn is often feared as the great malefic, a planetary force of limitation, hardship and transformation. Yet beneath its austere exterior lies a profound source of strength, protection and wisdom. Saturn teaches us that boundaries can be empowering, discipline can be liberating, and stability can offer comfort in times of uncertainty.
Join Paul for an exploration of Saturn’s occult properties, drawing upon rich esoteric traditions. We will uncover the many faces of the Old Planet, exploring its mysteries and discovering how its formidable energies may be understood and applied within magical practice.
The talk will be followed by a practical talisman-making workshop, where you will put these principles into action by safely creating and personalising two of your own Saturnian talismans to take home. Drawing upon traditional planetary symbolism, our materials will include lead, parchment, belladonna and myrrh ink, each considered within its historical, magical and symbolic context.
Paul is a practicing witch of Kingfisher Coven, based in East London. His work is grounded in Wiccan thought and informed by a study of astrology, herbalism, and the tarot, with particular emphasis on their magical and spiritual applications. His practice focuses on the integration of celestial influences, plant lore, and divinatory systems within ritual and talismanic work.
Paul has presented a workshop at the 2026 Glastonbury Occult Conference and has lectured on Lunar Magic at Helgis Bar in Hackney, where he also co-devised and delivered an astrology course. His writing appears in Issue One of The Crooked Cauldron, published this year.
