Join the Poetry Ph*rm*cy as we welcome editor/poet Cherry Potts and poets Heather Chapman Mwelwa Chilekwa, Elizabeth Gibson and Gwenhwyfar Ferch Rhys from Arachne Press's latest LGBTQ+ Poetry Anthology, UP//ROAR: Poems of Queer Resistance. UP//ROAR is a follow up to best-selling JOY//US: Poems of Queer Joy.
The environment for the LGBTQ+ communities has changed alarmingly quickly in the last two years and these are new queer poems for bleaker times. Are we angry? You bet we are. Do we still laugh, make jokes, make love, make friends, forge communities and make a lot of noise? Of course. Poetry is an act of resistance, it gives us strength, and it takes many forms, from singing to nail varnish, gossip to badges, refusing to back down and refusing to forget.
