About this Event
About the talk
The objects we surround ourselves with are rarely just practical. They quietly reveal who we are, what we value, and how we hope to be seen.
Inspired by ideas from The Architecture of Happiness by Alain de Botton, Snoop: What Your Stuff Says About You by Sam Gosling, and Ways of Seeing by John Berger, this talk explores the psychological relationship between people and the objects that shape their everyday lives.
From the books on a bedside table to the chairs we choose for our homes and workplaces, objects become subtle but powerful expressions of identity, memory, and aspiration. By looking more closely at these everyday details, the talk uncovers the hidden stories they carry, and the way they influence how we feel, behave, and connect with others.
For designers, understanding this quiet language of objects offers a richer perspective on creating spaces and products that feel meaningful, personal, and deeply human.
This perspective closely aligns with Deadgood’s ethos of creating products with personality.
