About this Event
WIP artist for the month of October, Patricia Miranda, will introduce her artwork and her project The Lace Archive, a virtual library of thousands of donated pieces of lace, linens, and family histories. The Archive serves as an important community record of women’s labor and creates a space for preserving craft practices and family histories, while also providing textiles that Miranda incorporates into her artwork.
Participants will take part in a communal archiving process, helping to document new donations to the Archive and support the continued expansion and preservation of the project.
During the second half of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to sew a new community work together. In this sewing circle, everyone is invited to share stories and histories connected to family textiles.
