What happens when a film about AI meets a world that has changed dramatically since it was made? For our next JAX Film Salon, we’re bringing Franklin Ritch’s acclaimed debut feature, "The Artifice Girl", to BABS'LAB, followed by an intimate conversation with Franklin and his team about the stories behind it.
When the film first made its mark in 2022, the questions it raised felt like the future. How do they land today? What feels different now? And what does Franklin think about a world catching up with the ideas his film explored?
Starring sci-fi legend Lance Henriksen, "The Artifice Girl" won the Golden Audience Award at Fantasia International Film Festival, became the #1 independent film on iTunes, and earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination.
One critic called it “the most technologically timely film I had the chance to see.”
And Franklin lives and teaches right here in Jacksonville.
This is our first full-length feature at the Salon, and our first Wednesday screening. Don't miss it!
Seating is limited. Tickets are available now.
“The directorial work is impressive but Ritch’s script and performance are something to marvel at. As a director, writer, and most certainly, an actor, Ritch has jumped to the very top of this critic’s can’t miss list.”
