About this Event
Food production is one of the biggest contributors to climate change. And more than 30% of all food produced is actually wasted!
How can we change this? Come to a screening of the short documentary film The Interceptors, which follows Chef TJ Conwi and his team of volunteers as they collect discarded ingredients from the food supply chain, and transform them to create meals for residents in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
Following the screening Chef TJ will join a panel discussion on how we can reduce food waste and food insecurity at the same time. We’ll learn what is being done already in Maple Ridge, and how we each can have an impact.
Panelists will include:
- Chef TJ Conwi from Ono Vancouver and ReRoot Meals
- Janice Sowieta from Second Harvest
- Kim Boekhorst, Executive Director of the Friends In Need Food Bank
