About this Event
You’ve spent your whole life learning not to improvise. You’ve been taught to think ahead, get things right and stay in control.
Ready to get out of your own way?
In this workshop, facilitated entirely without words, you’ll learn by watching and doing, quieting the mind and discovering what happens when you are 100% available: fully connected to your scene partner, your environment and what’s happening right now.
When you’re truly present, you don’t need to invent the next clever thing to say or do. The next choice becomes obvious.
Improv becomes easier. More connected. More physical. More surprising. And a whole lot more fun.
Who’s in charge here?
The workshop takes its inspiration from Timothy Gallwey’s The Inner Game of Tennis and his idea of Self 1 and Self 2.
Self 1 wants to be in charge. It thinks, instructs, judges, plans and tries to control the outcome.
Self 2 actually does it. It listens, moves, responds and adapts in real time, faster and more fluidly than our conscious mind can direct it.
The problem isn’t that Self 1 exists. It’s that we’ve spent our lives teaching it to be the boss.
The Inner Game reverses that relationship: less for Self 1 to manage, more freedom for Self 2 to respond. And every time Self 2 proves what it can do, we learn to trust it more.
Less control. More trust. More freedom.
