*The Heron’s Pondering* doesn’t just find inspiration in the poetry of the late great Gil Scott-Heron. It embodies a spiritual connection Yxsterday has found in his music, his philosophies and his walk of life.This project is a meditation on the ecosystem of blackness in an environment that constantly pillages it, his identity and how it interacts with heritage, and growth and beauty within said culture; all explored through the motif of loss, as it appears in various forms of the human experience. The album cultivates a sonic biosphere that started with the intention of making a *jazz* album. The frenetic, freewheeling nature of jazz is distilled in loops for him to play in, as he nurtures a concept that takes an experience felt by a group, and inserts his own individuality.
Throughout the process of feeling, reflecting, and writing this collection of poems, he quickly understood that these themes supersede a single medium. This artistic ecosystem concept is an interactive music listening experience that invites people into the marsh, to wade in its water, and to leave impacted equally by its beauty and its flaws.
Be there at 6:30 on November 20th to experience a one-night-only performance of original spoken word poetry, live listening of the album, commissioned artwork that was created as a visual interpretation of it, and a Q&A session.
