About this Event
Have you ever wanted to connect with families to discuss the best strategies to help you be the most confident parent or caregiver you can be? Do you have ideas and practices that you have seen create impressive parenting or educational results? Are you looking for resources to pass on to others? Join The Happy Black Parent and other families just like yours to learn from each other, discuss strategies, and debate ideologies during The Happy Black Parent inaugural Families Who Thrive 'Un'conference.
You may be wondering, 'what is an unconference?' It is an intentionally curated gathering that creates spaces for people to learn from each others expertise. Though learning from 'the experts' is very important, sometimes we just need a little encouragement to pull out the brilliance that lives within each one of us.
There will be an introductory period where participants can brainstorm what sessions they want to lead and participate in. Don't be intimidated! Participants with similar ideas can co-lead together, and all participants are encouraged to contribute their ideas to any session they attend. Also, there is no pressure to lead. Just chime in as you feel comfortable. We will use the first hour of the event to brainstorm session ideas and post the times/locations for each created session. That way, participants can plan how they would like to spend their time and decide what they want to learn and discuss. There will also be designated times between sessions to connect with others and build community.
Expect a fun, energizing event where you have the opportunity to learn or teach whatever you want! Learn, lead and build community!
