The Greek Magical Papyri (PGM) is comprised of numerous spells from Greco-Roman Egypt. These texts date from the second century BCE to the fifth century CE, and are representative of a working magician's manual.Many of the spells contained within seem foreign to modern magical practitioners, yet there are things we can gleam from the contents. This class reviews the history of magical practice in Greco-Roman Egypt as represented by the PGM. We will also look into how we, as modern practitioners, can adapt the information contained in the PGM.
