A legendary Fremantle tradition returns!We’re winding back the clock and bringing a much-loved piece of Fremantle’s Italian story back to life at Little Italy by the Sea Festival 2026.
Back in the 1980s, when Fremantle’s famous Cappuccino Strip was becoming the lively meeting place we know today, spaghetti-eating competitions at the iconic Gino’s brought together great characters, big appetites and plenty of laughter.
Now, The Great Spaghetti Competition is back — reimagined for a new generation as THE GREAT SPAGHETTI SHOWDOWN!
Contestants will take their places at the table, plates of spaghetti at the ready, as family, friends and festival crowds gather around to cheer them on.
Then comes the call...
TRE... DUE... UNO... VIA!
And they’re off!
It will be fast, fabulously messy and enormously entertaining as our competitors race for spaghetti supremacy and the coveted title of 2026 Great Spaghetti Showdown Champion.
More than a competition, it’s a celebration of the fun, personality and Italian spirit that have been part of Fremantle for generations — taking a wonderful memory from the Cappuccino Strip and bringing it to the harbour for Little Italy by the Sea.
