Join the neighborhood for The Great Belmont Dry, a community-wide event where we all hang our laundry out to dry on the exact same day. On Saturday 17th October, we are turning off our electric dryers, stepping outside, and filling our front yards with color to celebrate a simpler, greener way of living.This event is all about community, sustainability, and enjoying the fresh air. Whether you have a massive clothesline, a small drying rack, or just a couple of chairs on the porch, every garment counts!
How to Participate:
• Wash early: Get your washing machine running first thing in the morning.
• Hang them high: Head outside and pin up your clothes, sheets, and towels.
• Snap a photo: Take a picture of your colorful clothesline and share it on our community page using the hashtag #BelmontClotheslineDay.
• Enjoy the day: Take a walk around the neighborhood to see the collective fabric of our community blowing in the breeze.
Why We Are Doing It
• Saving Energy: Leaving the dryers off for just one day saves a massive amount of electricity.
• Fresher Clothes: Nothing beats the crisp, clean scent of line-dried laundry.
• Community Spirit: It is a fun, visual way to show that small, individual actions add up to a big collective impact.
• It’ll annoy that one grumpy person that’s doesn’t like the sight of hanging laundry
