THE GOOD KIND-An Off the Shelf Staged ReadingDani is thirty, flirty—and sick? When her perfectly postable life collides with the reality of breast cancer, things get serious—fast. Her three best friends and roommates each want to help in their own ways. One wants to join all the support groups, one wants to call HR, and the other doesn’t actually seem to understand how serious it all is. Or does he?
Determined to hold onto her sense of humor, Dani must confront the sadness and fear reflected in those around her before she can face those feelings in herself. Inspired by the playwright’s own experience with two breast cancer diagnoses, this semi-autobiographical play follows Dani from diagnosis through treatment and dives deeply into what it means to use laughter—and each other—to navigate the unknown.
