The second of a series of talks with music by Frikki Walker, Director of Music St Mary's Cathedral Glasgow on the pipe organ repertoire. Baroque pipe organ music is a rich, complex period of music that flourished in Europe roughly from 1600 to 1750, defined by intricate counterpoint and massive sonic range. Baroque composers relied heavily on counterpoint, a technique weaving two or more independent melodic lines together at the same time. At this talk Frikki not only explores the ideas and innovations that underpinned baroque music, he brings the subject to life by playing it.
What people said about the Frikki's previous talk in the series:
“...a truly informative and special evening”
