Dr Gina Bevan is an associate lecturer. Her research focuses on analysing how women are presented in pop culture. In her upcoming book this takes the form of using horror film theory as part of an interdisciplinary approach to exploring how Medusa, a monster, is reclaimed by women in pop music as a feminist icon and why this appealing to their audience. For her MA dissertation in 2014, for which she was awarded a distinction, Gina also used horror film theory to analyse the lesbian vampire and queer desire.
