Welcome to our October Talisman Poetry Open Mic, which also happens to be our closest to Halloween - dressing up is encouraged! Our feature poet for this month, Maithreyi Hughes (also published as Maithreyi Karnoor), is an Indian writer, translator, and poet. She is the author of two novels, a short story collection, and the poetry collection Skinny Dipping in Tiger Country. She is a two-time finalist of the Montreal International Poetry Prize and her individual poems are published in The Poetry Review, PN Review, Poetry London, and Poetry Wales. She first came to Wales in 2022 on a Charles Wallace fellowship in writing and translation at University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Since then, she has returned to do a PhD in Creative Writing with AHRC scholarship at Aberystwyth University for which she is writing her third novel.
There's an open mic after the feature, so bring your poems and join in the fun! It's all free (though do stop and buy a brew from Down By Here the only bar in Swansea to stock all Welsh ales and ciders!) New readers welcome!
