About this Event

After watching an enemy for a very long time during an endless war, a soldier finally creeps out into the night to the other man’s hole and is surprised by what he finds there.

The P.E.A.s perform The Enemy, based on L’ennemi by Serge Bloch and Davide Cali © Gallimard. They will explore how stories from the past can help us better understand each other today and make more compassionate choices for tomorrow.

Recommended for families with children in Grade 1 and up.

In partnership with P.E.A.s in a Pod (Performers, Educators, and Artists Collective) With Rights for L’ennemi Granted by Serge Bloch and Davide Cali © Gallimard

is a creative collaboratory, tended by Alexandra May (M.Ed), Amy Sawka (BA [Hons] Theatre), and Meredith Johnson (CAEA Stage Manager), experienced artists and educators in their respective fields.

Having worked with young people throughout our careers, and having started as young people ourselves in theatre arts, we’ve noticed a shift in the Calgary Arts Community over the past decade. In particular, there has been a palpable redirection in programming by many of our established TYA organizations to focus on theatre created by young people and with young people. This, paired with the loss of many touring productions and the sunsetting of the Calgary Children’s Festival in 2018, has resulted in a demonstrable gap in theatre created by professionals specifically for young people, which we believe is necessary to round out arts access in our community and support our young people in civic engagement.

We are dedicated to creating innovative and impactful theatre that connects purposefully with young audiences.
