For Lansom, a standard isn’t just the notes on the page; it’s a canvas with guidelines to explore and create something fresh and new, while learning from the talents of those who have performed and studied these melodies in the past.DOORS @ 6PM / SHOW @ 7PM / 21 & over only

The Carolyn Lansom Sextet will provide a captivating performance of timeless jazz standards from the Great American Songbook, alongside original arrangements of cross-genre gems by artists such as Amy Winehouse, Norah Jones, and many more. Carolyn thoughtfully crafts each set, creating a theatrical arc from beginning to end.
Carolyn is one of Buffalo’s most admired vocalists. Following her summer appearance in Voci d’Amore: Timeless Songs, a street festival presented by JazzBuffalo and Tappo Restaurant, Tony Zambito described her as “equally at home interpreting jazz standards, Broadway favorites, contemporary classics, and timeless love songs. Carolyn possesses a rare ability to draw the audience into every lyric she sings.”
A graduate of Niagara University with a BFA in Theater, Carolyn is a perennial nominee and winner in the JazzBuffalo Poll. She discovered jazz while living in Japan shortly after college during her husband’s Navy service. Since then, she has been performing on a variety of stages for more than a decade, including the main stage at the Northwest Jazz Festival in Lewiston, NY, and hopes to perform internationally in the near future.
Additionally, Carolyn serves as the Alto II section leader for the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Buffalo’s critically acclaimed choir, which will be performing at Carnegie Hall in NYC this upcoming spring.
Joining Carolyn for the first time at Pausa will be local favorite Dr. John Bacon Jr., a true professional and professor of Percussion and Jazz Studies at SUNY Fredonia. Alongside him will be Dave Lansom and Greg Skulicz, who perform with Carolyn monthly as part of their trio, Dozo My Lady.
Rounding out the sextet are Harry Graser and Dalton Sharp, two names familiar to anyone who follows the Buffalo music scene. Together, they’ll bring an exciting night of music to Pausa on Friday, November 20th.
Special thanks to the Pausa team for helping make this memorable night of music possible!
Thanks for supporting PAUSA art house, our musicians and live music in Buffalo. "Life is better with friends"
