If you like catchy tunes and your music loud, loose & fuzzy, then The Bright Shining Lies are your band.
The band was formed like a revenant spirit from the ashes of an old Canberra band, The Wedded Bliss. These guys decided to reform, ditch the acoustics, crank the amps, play a few shows, and record an album under a new name, with a new sound…and so…
The Bright Shining Lies became a thing.
All these guys - Randall Blair, Matt Nightingale, Lachlan Coventry & Richard Bray - have played in a bunch of bands since the ‘90s.
They’ve ducked, weaved, and even had a sneak peek at the four-foot dizzy highs and the dreaded lows of the music biz. They thought they’d put all that rock n’ roll malarkey behind them, but as you know, old habits die hard.
Influenced by garage-blues, grunge & power-pop, The Bright Shining Lies are ready to shake out their original tunes and launch their 8 track album. They’d love you to come along to celebrate.
Their self-titled debut album will be available on the night, and as a treat, the first 50 online pre-sale ticket holders will receive a copy of the album. C’mon folks, get amongst it.
ALBUM ARTWORK & DESIGN BY KATHARINE HAGAN (Dave Bath & The Hot Tubs)

The Bright Shining Lies are pumped to be joined on the night by Snake Oil Preachers & Sideburn.
Dubbed “country punk for city slackers”, Snake Oil Preachers rock the cannon of country classics with their own unique hollering, hell-raising hedonism, with godless gospel and heartless heartbreak.
Sideburn are a hard driving Alt-Country / Americana band. They’ve been playing around town for the past year, turning heads, tapping toes and wowing audiences with their twangy goodness & big guitar sound. If you like bands like Wilco, Big Star or Crazy Horse, you’ll love Sideburn.
