A cultural conversation exploring Jay-Z’s music, lessons, evolution and legacy and what a generation learned along the way.
About this Event

What did Jay-Z teach you that you didn’t learn in school?

Fresh off his Yankee Stadium run and after New York SHOWED UP to remind everybody why Hov remains one of hip-hop’s GOATs the timing couldn’t be better.

For a generation raised alongside hip-hop, Jay-Z’s music was more than a soundtrack.

It was a conversation about ambition, survival, money, ownership, relationships, reinvention, Black identity, New York, success, failure, and growth.

On Saturday, October 3, Beyond the Beat: Exploring Music, Culture & Identity presents:

THE BLUEPRINT: HOW JAY-Z EDUCATED A GENERATION

This is an interactive community experience built around music, culture, storytelling, and conversation.

We'll move across Jay-Z’s career from Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint to The Black Album, American Gangster, Watch the Throne, 4:44, and beyond to explore the lessons, contradictions, evolution, and cultural moments embedded in the music.

Come ready to listen, laugh, reflect, tell some stories, and probably debate a few things.

You do not have to be a Jay-Z expert. If the music was part of your life or you're curious about why it mattered there's a seat for you.

Come dressed in your fav Jay- Z era

Any album
Any era
Your interpretation

Reasonable Doubt hustler
Blueprint Hov
Black Album grown-man energy
Watch the Throne luxury
4:44 grown and reflective

Participation is encouraged, never required.

Bring Somebody

Beyond the Beat is about more than music. We're building community.

So this time, we're challenging you to bring somebody into the conversation a friend, cousin, partner, colleague, neighbor, fellow hip-hop head, or somebody who simply loves music and a good conversation.
