The Arterie: Luminary Walk
Friday, December 4, 2026
Along The Arterie: 5-8 pm | At Kemper Museum: 6-8 pm
The Arterie, the walking path connecting Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City Art Institute, and The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, lights up for the first annual Luminary Walk. Stroll the path between three of Kansas City’s cultural landmarks and enjoy stargazing, KCAI Open Studios, seasonal beverages, and more.
Kemper Museum will stay open late for this special Friday evening event, welcoming visitors from 10 am to 9 pm. Starting at 6 pm, enjoy Luminary Walk activations inspired by themes in Barbara Takenaga: Awestruck, including docent spotlight tours, celestial sounds on the harp by Brooke Knoll, stargazing with the Astronomical Society of Kansas City, and seasonal beverages available for purchase.
Make a night of it by dining at the museum’s restaurant, Oil on Linen, and browsing the Kemper Museum Store for holiday gifts.
