Why does one painting stop you in your tracks while another barely registers? It often comes down to what artists do with line, color, composition, and subject matter. This two-session series with educator Mary Cavaioli is all about sharpening your eye. Through close looking at works from the Museum's collection, you'll learn the visual building blocks artists have used for centuries and see how those same principles show up in contemporary art. Expect lively conversation, fresh perspectives, and a few "how did I not notice that before?" moments.
No art background needed. Coffee and pastries are included. ☕
Session 1 (April 10): Historical elements and principles of art, followed by a gallery visit to put them into practice.
Session 2 (April 17): How those foundations apply to contemporary art, ending with a self-guided gallery hour to test your new observation skills.
📌 Registration covers both sessions.
Members: $50
Non-Members: $80
