About this Event
Audience Development helps designers move beyond the question of "Who would wear my clothes?" to understand who their brand is actually positioned to serve, where those people are, what motivates them, and how to build meaningful relationships with them.
Fashion designers often have a strong creative vision but may struggle to translate that vision into a clearly defined customer or market. This seminar introduces participants to the fundamentals of audience identification, customer research, market positioning, and customer behavior.
Participants will learn how to use audience insights to inform everything from product development and pricing to marketing channels, partnerships, and content.
What Participants Can Expect to Learn / Take Away: By the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:
- Define their ideal customer and target audience
- Distinguish between a target market, ideal customer, and broader audience
- Identify customer demographics, psychographics, lifestyle, values, and buying behaviors
- Understand what motivates their customer to discover, consider, and purchase fashion
- Identify where their audience spends time both online and offline
- Research competitors and identify opportunities within their market
- Define their brand's unique audience position
- Identify customer pain points, desires, and unmet needs
- Create an Ideal Customer Profile
- Begin building a customer journey from discovery → engagement → consideration → purchase → retention
