About this Event
Someone asks, “So what do you do?” You ramble. You trail off. You say “it’s a bit hard to explain.”
In this workshop, you’ll build a 60 second pitch you can use at networking events, in the lift, at the school gate or on the end of a phone. Just a clear, honest way to say what you do and why anyone should care.
What we’ll cover
- What a good pitch does (and what makes people switch off)
- Finding the one thing you want people to remember
- Writing it down in plain English
- Practising out loud, in a friendly room, with people who are just as nervous as you
- Getting feedback you can use straight away
You’ll leave with
- A finished 60 second pitch
- A shorter version for when you only get 10 seconds
- A bit more nerve than you walked in with
Who it’s for
Founders, freelancers, side hustlers and anyone who’s ever dreaded the networking circle. You don’t need to be an expert, and you don’t need to love public speaking. Most people don’t.
Good to know
Bring a notebook and a rough idea of what you do. Tea and coffee are on us. Spaces are limited so we can keep it small, so please book early and let us know if you can’t make it.
Fancy working from Civic?
If you like what you see, stick around. Civic is a proper place to work, with desks, meeting spaces and a friendly crowd of people.
After the workshop, you’re welcome to have a look around and chat to the team about membership. We can show you the space, talk through what suits you and answer any questions.
