About this Event
The evening will include an introduction to a selection of beautifully handwritten family recipe books from the RCP collection that were used to share knowledge about treatments and cures within communities in England, 1500-1800.
- Discover the properties of herbs featured in the recipe books, many of which are grown in the RCP’s own garden of medicinal plants.
- Learn how they are grown and used while tasting the individual plant ingredients.
- Finally build on what you have discovered to create your very own tea blend to take home with you – or deliver as a unique Christmas, Hannukah or seasonal gift.
‘Brilliant! It was so informative! I'm excited to go home and try making my own blends.’
‘Amazing to hear about different herbs and plants and then apply that in a practical way.’
‘Friendly, informative, organised and so interesting!’
- Past participants
of medicinal plants contains over 1,100 plants with links to medicine. The myriad stories they tell come from diverse cultures, different countries and from every age in recorded history.
