About this Event
Tarot Study Group: Reading in Community is an invitation for tarot enthusiasts, beginner or intermediate, to spend an evening in community to practice guided tarot exercises devised and curated by Irene Lo, a local tarot reader and deck creator.
On Mon, Oct. 19, this tarot study group will explore the energy of the Crone to connect to the season of fall.
The Crone is a wise woman. Also affectionately known as a hag, she represents a spiritual guide. Think of her as a protector and grandmother. We honour her energy through our relationship to the passing of time.
We are often taught to cling to youth, especially for women who are trained to stay as maidens or mothers for as long as we can. This evening is a remembrance of ageing and change as nothing to be feared.

About Irene
Irene Lo (she/her) is an intuitive tarot reader who believes in tarot as a spiritual tool for self-realization. As a reader, she has read for clients over the past 5 years, in 1:1 sessions, metaphysical shops, and group events such as graduations, markets, and wellness retreats.
Her tarot practice is informed by her understanding of trauma-aware, intersectional + divine feminist, as well as Daoist and yogic frameworks of the world.
In 2019, she first studied tarot by learning the Smith-Waite Tarot from a neighbour in exchange for yoga sessions. She then studied the Motherpeace Tarot with Mimi Young. She has studied with Lindsay Mack, Jessica Dore, and Christopher Marmolejo (The Red Read). Among her self-studies, she counts Mary K. Greer, Benebell Wen, Susan T. Chang, Rachel Pollack, and Barbara Walker as her tarot influences.
She was a featured speaker at the 2023 Northwest Tarot Symposium in Portland, where she spoke on trauma and the Minor Arcana.
Outside of tarot, Irene is also a yoga teacher and educator. She is facilitating a decolonizing wellness weekend retreat on Vancouver Island this fall.
