Join us on October 19 at La Salle College Vancouver for this educational masterclass that explores the excellence of European organic extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) through theory and a guided tasting.
What you’ll learn & taste
· Discover the richness of authentic Italian EVOO (no additives) and how aromas shape first impressions in the kitchen.
· Taste and analyze organic EVOO in depth—expressions of terroir, tradition, and innovation.
· Recognize how transparency, certifications, and labeling build consumer trust and elevate professional practice.
The Expert: Orazio Scaldaferri is an organic food activist and educator and a longtime advocate for organic, traceable, and authentic extra virgin olive oil. A past co-chair of Slow Food Vancouver, he has organized educational initiatives such as the Slow Food Cycle Tour and participated in farmers’ markets to promote greater awareness of quality food and sustainable food practices.
Orazio was the owner of Scaldaferri Deli and Pasta Shop in West Vancouver and Scaldaferri Cheese and Wine Shop at Lonsdale Quay Market. Today, he produces extra virgin olive oil from his family’s olive estate in Calabria, in the Sibari area along the Ionian Sea, and distributes Orazio’s Olive Oil in Canada.
His personal motto is: “Eat well. Live better.

Please note that the masterclass is 1hour long. You can choose to register for either the morning session or the afternoon session, at both sessions we will be presenting the same content.
By participating at either session you will also have access to light refreshements and networking from 11am to 12pm.
