About this Event
Discover what Tudor fashions can tell us about how people lived 500 years ago. What a woman wore was not only a personal choice but also a public declaration of her place in the world. Prepare to be surprised by the diverse pathways fashion can lead you down.
This free talk includes a full costume demonstration and discussion of fabrics, embroidery, who made the clothes, how they kept them clean, and how knitting became an important cottage industry.
Rosemary loves bringing the past to life through her unique blend of theatre, history, and re-enactment. Her appearances and talks for museums and community groups all over the West Country draw on her extensive research into sixteenth-century Devon, Tudor life and Tudor dress. She is the author of the popular Daughters of Devon novels. Her first work of non-fiction, Queen Elizabeth I’s Governess: The Real Kat Ashley, was published in August 2026.
